Cosmic Atlas is a calculator. It works out planetary positions on your device with astronomy-engine (v2.1.19, copyright 2019-2023 Don Cross, MIT licence), an open-source engine we compile from its C source. It shows each result in degrees and minutes with its sign and house, and it names the house system and the technique that produced it.

Accuracy is measured rather than asserted: 10 bodies, 3 separate epochs, 30 independent measurements against NASA JPL Horizons. The largest deviation we measure is 0.0078 degrees, about 28 arcseconds, and the test asserts a 0.02 degree ceiling. The same figures are on the Calculation Record screen inside the app.

The interpretive layer sits on top of that computation. It reads your own houses and transits, it is written in the language of "may" rather than "will", and it does not tell you what is going to happen. Do not base important decisions on it; talk to a qualified professional in the relevant field.

Astrology is offered here as a symbolic language and an interpretive tradition, rather than as a scientifically validated system of prediction. The calculation side is measurable and visible: positions, house cusps, aspects and orb values. The interpretive side draws on that tradition and is written for you to hold against your own experience.

Yes. If you tick "I don't know my birth time" the chart is calculated for 12:00 noon. The rising sign and houses become unreliable and the Moon sign stays approximate; the Sun, planet signs and major transits keep working.

If you know your time roughly, you can look at Retrace: a separate app from Cosmic Atlas that shows which hours your life events touch most (no account or data link).

The chart is calculated in your browser: planet positions, rising sign and house cusps, aspects, fixed stars, eclipses, astrocartography lines and horary. There are no accounts; your birth details, the people you add and your journal live only in your browser's local storage and are not sent to us. If you clear browser data or switch devices they will not be there.

We list each place the app reaches the network: birth place search (the city name goes to Open-Meteo), the high-precision asteroid query (codes and a date-time to the minute, through our own server function to NASA JPL Horizons) and anonymous usage measurement that you can turn off.

Yes. On the Profile page you can add loved ones, children or a partner; synastry (relationship comparison) is made from these people. Records stay only in this browser.

No. The web app is free; there is no subscription or payment and no card details are requested. If a paid feature is ever offered, it will be announced clearly in advance.

On the Profile page tap Delete my data on this device. Since no account is created, you have no data stored elsewhere. If you created an account in the earlier mobile version, email [email protected] from the address on the account; the request is completed within 30 days. Step by step: Data Deletion.
